Red Jewel NurseryWho are we ?Red Jewel Nursery is a family owned business and has evolved from producing high quality fruit and vegetables for many years to supplying high quality strawberry runners for over 10 years. Our property is located 5km to the west of Ballandean, in the hills at the southern end of the Granite Belt in Southern Queensland. Our position in the hills gives us an ideal climate for strawberry runner production with warm summer days and cool nights coupled with fine sandy soil and abundant fresh water from the Severn River. New Nursery SiteRed Jewel Nursery is pleased to announce that it will grow a limited quantity of our strawberry runners on its new nursery site located near Guyra on the New England Tablelands for the 2011/2012 season. The new nursery site is located at an elevation of 1200 meters above sea level and will be the only true high elevation nursery in Australia. The increased elevation results in a cooler summer growing environment particularly in early March which should induce plants to mature earlier and possibly allow us to commence harvesting earlier. Once it is determined which varieties perform best when grown in the colder climate, commercial quantities will be available for purchase in future.
